A meaningful picture...

Ah, this picture.

It was christmas 2 years ago when we took this photograph. And If you are wondering why I’m wearing a Santa Claus hat… Well, it’s kind of a long story. I just gonna say that my grandfather is too old for that job and I’m his replacement.

Since my sister turned 7, she never stops drawing. My parents love her so much, but they are not too attentive, they would never have discovered that she liked to draw. So I saved some money to buy a basic graphic tablet for my sister and slowly try to convince her to use it. She became scarily good at it at the point that it seemed that she had been using it all her life.

Finally my parents start to apreciatte my sister’s art, and they decide that she deserved a better equipment...

So, when christmas came, we convinced my sister that the gift under the christmas tree was for her little aunt (she is just 1 year younger than her). When I took the gift, she was so excited to see us little aunt reaction, but I did not say her name, instead I say “…And this gift is for Josefa!”. She was confused when I put the gift in her hands and when she finally open it, she started to cry.

It wasn’t about the gift or the money, it was about to recognizing my sister’s talent and passion, the thing that she really likes, the whole family did! My parents and I made the effort to give her a little bit more of life and that, at least for me, is what families are supposed to be.

I choose this picture over the others because I think that lovely stories give us the strength and hope to be us  those who work to make the world better.

Just remember: Is not a happy story until the end!

My favorite piece of technology

There is a massive amount of essential technology devices out there that makes our life’s easier. Calculators, computer, construction machines. But there’s only one device that I can’t live without, the keyboard.

At first I was not interested in keyboards. The first time I discover it was in my grandmother’s house, she uses to have an old computer and I use to take every opportunity that she gave me to play with it. My favorite game was Age of Empires and, until now, I’m pretty good at it. But the game has hotkeys that allow me to do thing more quickly, so I tried to learn how use these hotkeys and improve my game style. And that is the moment that my interest in “how to use a keyboard” start to grow.

When I grew up I start to create stories in my mind, but quickly I began to forget them. I was just too lazy to put those ideas on a note. But one day I visit my mom’s job and there was a typewriter or writing machine. I was bored and my mom let me use it and, for some reason, it was the best evening of my entire life. I was able to write whatever I wanted and I was happy just to see my ideas and stories became a real book page.

I imagined myself being a writer and making people enjoy the stories I wrote.

(The typewriter looks something like this)

I tried to look for more excuses to go to my mother’s job again but I couldn’t return. I was angry because I wanted to use the typewriter again and writing in the computer wasn’t the same! But I finally gave up with that.

I became pretty good at writing with a conventional keyboard and even my parents were surprised at how fast I was able to type.

Recently, I bought a mechanical keyboard for myself, it has leds and customized keycaps for "gamers". It’s awesome! I use it to write my novel and short stories for myself (because I’m too bashful about my own material).

I almost write every day in my computer and I cannot imagine me try to write large texts just with a pencil. It just couldn’t be possible for me, maybe I'd give up before I started; I’m too used to type.

(And this is my actual keyboard)

A jump into the future
