A jump into the future

Ha, ha... I think this is a super interesting subject.

How it would be de future? No one knows, but we can imagine...

I imagine future like a super-teccnological place to live. Maybe it will be un 2200, we are not so far from it.

With the conquest of the stars the humanity will have a lot of resources to develop advanced technology to repair the enviorment and upgrade agriculture.

Maybe we could found a new type of energy, cleaner. I hope that in future almost all process will be automated. letting the people have more time to spend in theirselves and their families.

I think I'm being too positive, but I really belive that good people can solve actual problems with technology and humankind is very creative :)

If we do it right, something like this is not too far away.

My future job

I'm completely convinced that I need my own garden and take care of it.

I really like nature, but recently I started to found an strange interactiong with plants, is like they give me peace and tranquility. My mother use to talk with her plants... I don't, but maybe I should start, because I'm starting to fell that plants, flowers and mushrroms clear my mind.

I would like to work everwhere I can take care of plants and beeing alone.

About the money... Uhm, I just need enough to live alone, I can wait while I save money for whatever I want, I don't really mind it, my mental health is first and as long as I'm surrounded by plant, I'll be happy.

It doesn't matter if my job is about taking care of plants, because I pretend to have my own personal garden in my house and buy a lot of books about plants and threes.

My best holiday ever!

I really, really want to update some photos of it, but I completely lose them :(

My grandparents live in Miraflores, a town between Talca and Chillán, so we don't have the opportunity to see them frequently. So, my father think that visit them in christmas would be a good idea and so it was!

We surprise my grandparents a day before christmas, we bring food, some wine and a lot of gifts for them and my uncles.

We do a lot of things together, I even use a chainsaw to help my grandfather with his job for the first time in my life. I was taking pictures of it when my younger uncle bring a soccer ball and that was the moment that my father and my grandfather create the "souther football". This variation consist in just one rule: "You cannot make goals with your feet".

It was awesome, we struggle so much to score and do the most hilarius things to hit the ball near the porters lodge. The problem was the weather...two days ago it rained, so the place near the goal had a puddle. While we were playing we don't mind it, we just throw ourselves like the game was the most important thing in the world until I touch my pocket and discover my cellphone all wet. I try to turn it on, but it doesn't work and that's why I can't upload any photo of the event.

A place I would like to visit

There is one place I want to visit after I die and, strange as it sounds, it has nothing to do with threes. Well, maybe a little bit, but the thing that I wanna talk to you is about the Prince Edwards Island.
I know, I know... Why I wanted to go there? The answer is simple, is the place where Lucy Maud Montgomery was born, especifically, in New London, Canada.

I would like to explore the island to learn more about the life of Lucy, and get inspired by the landscapes that saw her grow. I like it so much because Lucy write one of my favourite novels, "Anne of the Green Gables". Is such a adorable story and Anne is so kind and clever.

Unfortunatly, the town of Avon Lea does not exist, is just a fictional place, but according to the book is near Cavendish.

How can planting trees make world a better place to live?

How can planting trees make world a better place to live...?

Do I really need to explain this? Hehe.

The world is changing, the climate change is making everything more difficult and it can became worst soon. Trees not only give us clean air; they are great at capturing CO2 , being one of the best soldiers to fight climate change.

Trees are also a renewable resource, we only need to give them time to grow and they will provide strong wood. On the other hand, someone has to take care of them, making sure animals have a place to live and things to eat, and yes you guessed it, trees also do that.

I see myself in a few years in the future like a mitical old man of the forest, dedicating my life to protect it. But I don’t want to work only in commercial monocultures, I want to make my home a magical forest, full of plants and mushrooms, and open it for tourist. “Came and visit the enchanted forest!” Haha, I see it coming!

Just wait for it!

A meaningful picture...

Ah, this picture.

It was christmas 2 years ago when we took this photograph. And If you are wondering why I’m wearing a Santa Claus hat… Well, it’s kind of a long story. I just gonna say that my grandfather is too old for that job and I’m his replacement.

Since my sister turned 7, she never stops drawing. My parents love her so much, but they are not too attentive, they would never have discovered that she liked to draw. So I saved some money to buy a basic graphic tablet for my sister and slowly try to convince her to use it. She became scarily good at it at the point that it seemed that she had been using it all her life.

Finally my parents start to apreciatte my sister’s art, and they decide that she deserved a better equipment...

So, when christmas came, we convinced my sister that the gift under the christmas tree was for her little aunt (she is just 1 year younger than her). When I took the gift, she was so excited to see us little aunt reaction, but I did not say her name, instead I say “…And this gift is for Josefa!”. She was confused when I put the gift in her hands and when she finally open it, she started to cry.

It wasn’t about the gift or the money, it was about to recognizing my sister’s talent and passion, the thing that she really likes, the whole family did! My parents and I made the effort to give her a little bit more of life and that, at least for me, is what families are supposed to be.

I choose this picture over the others because I think that lovely stories give us the strength and hope to be us  those who work to make the world better.

Just remember: Is not a happy story until the end!

My favorite piece of technology

There is a massive amount of essential technology devices out there that makes our life’s easier. Calculators, computer, construction machines. But there’s only one device that I can’t live without, the keyboard.

At first I was not interested in keyboards. The first time I discover it was in my grandmother’s house, she uses to have an old computer and I use to take every opportunity that she gave me to play with it. My favorite game was Age of Empires and, until now, I’m pretty good at it. But the game has hotkeys that allow me to do thing more quickly, so I tried to learn how use these hotkeys and improve my game style. And that is the moment that my interest in “how to use a keyboard” start to grow.

When I grew up I start to create stories in my mind, but quickly I began to forget them. I was just too lazy to put those ideas on a note. But one day I visit my mom’s job and there was a typewriter or writing machine. I was bored and my mom let me use it and, for some reason, it was the best evening of my entire life. I was able to write whatever I wanted and I was happy just to see my ideas and stories became a real book page.

I imagined myself being a writer and making people enjoy the stories I wrote.

(The typewriter looks something like this)

I tried to look for more excuses to go to my mother’s job again but I couldn’t return. I was angry because I wanted to use the typewriter again and writing in the computer wasn’t the same! But I finally gave up with that.

I became pretty good at writing with a conventional keyboard and even my parents were surprised at how fast I was able to type.

Recently, I bought a mechanical keyboard for myself, it has leds and customized keycaps for "gamers". It’s awesome! I use it to write my novel and short stories for myself (because I’m too bashful about my own material).

I almost write every day in my computer and I cannot imagine me try to write large texts just with a pencil. It just couldn’t be possible for me, maybe I'd give up before I started; I’m too used to type.

(And this is my actual keyboard)

Why did I choose these career? (Forest engineering)

This is a bit embarrasing, but, when I was a child I dream to become a hero. I would have liked to be that guy who saves the day and make things better for everyone. Despite my childlish interests, my parents told me that it was right. If that makes me  happy, it was OK.

But I always feel like I am not like other humans. I always feel more close to the wild. I prefer to be between animals or plants (everything but insects) than city people. So I decide that the best way to be a real hero for the nature, was to understand nature, to be more close to it.

And that is the reason why I am studying forest ciences.

This was my very first option, so if at some point I didn’t make it, I would be completly lost in life.

My first year here was difficult. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, so I try to save my first year while I was diying from inside.

Fortunately, I am alive! (and more than ever) And ready to become the hero that my inners child want me to be.

My dream job is related to trees and mushrooms. I would like to be a forester or park keeper, but having my own plantation would be even better. I want to become and agent of nature and take care of forests.

My autobiography

Hi, everyone!

I am Emilio Reyes, actually I have 23 years old and I was born in Santiago de Chile. When I was a child I use to be happy about to go to the school, I studied at Colegio San Carlos de Aragón, but in 2° grade I was transfered to Colegio Altazor del sol for a better formation. Actually I am studying at Universidad de Chile, specifically in Facultad de ciencias forestales y conservación de la naturaleza. Yes, I know, is a long name.

There, I discovered my passion for filosophy, history and storytelling, so, when I supose to be studing, I use to write poems, epic stories and fantasy.  Some of those text are lost for ever, so it's even more misterious.

I live with my both parents and my little sister, Josefa. Eugenio Reyes is my father and he is so kind and pure of heart, and my mother, Virginia Espinoza, for the other hand, is incredibly clever. I love them so much.
